At first I wasn’t sure how much of my real life I was going to share. But after talking with a couple of other companions whose opinions I trust, and who each came at this from different directions, I decided that for me, sharing felt right
I guess I can best be described as a small-town girl, molded by the Deep South. With a little imagination I'm sure you can picture it...
Funnel cake at the County Fair. Saturday afternoon trips to Dairy Queen. Fundraisers at the Volunteer Fire Department. Church picnics. The Friday night car show at Wal-Mart. And bingo nights at the VFW.
Well, your imagination would be spot on.
But while I love bonfires and mudding as much as any girl, I was struck very early on in life with the travel bug and a case of wanderlust. Seeing the world and trying new things has been my life and my love for most of my adulthood.
Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and even the East Coast of Africa; a lot of places more than once.
Who would have imagined that the the awkward girl with pig tails and a lemonade stand would some day find herself sipping Robusta coffee and nibbling on mandazi, watching the sun come up over the Indian Ocean.
